Hi ladies, today on the League of Her Own blog we have the pleasure of meeting Lauren Dragon-Cook. Lauren is the superstar female entrepreneur and business woman behind Wedding Boss Life founded in 2017.
Lauren please tell A League of Her Own members what your business, Wedding Boss Life is all about
From templates and tools to workflows and SEO, I help wedding pros organize and automate the shiz out of their biz so they can focus on doing what they love instead of drowning in emails and to-do’s!
What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?
The idea of being able to create my own schedule and be my own boss were two key factors! Having the potential for unlimited growth was also a big one.
How long did it take for you to put your idea into action?
Once I listened to myself about what my true passion was, there was no stopping me. February of 2017 I realized I loved helping other wedding professionals with systems and workflows more than I did helping brides plan their wedding day. I officially launched Wedding Boss Life in April of that year.
What has been your scariest moment as an entrepreneur?
Simply not knowing if you are going to succeed; the idea of being an entrepreneur is liberating and exciting, but unfortunately those emotions do not pay the bills. Taking leaps of faith are always scary!
What has been your proudest moment?
Receiving this message from one of my VIP clients because I could feel her gratitude and sincere appreciation for all that we had accomplished in working together:
“I need someone I can share this excitement with that truly understands. I contacted Standinbaby (they are doing that workshow in NYC – but will be doing it on a day I have my last wedding) and asked them if they will be hosting any other dates. Long story semi-short – Sandra Moffatt – the COFOUNDER will be IN MY STUDIO training me for 8 freaking hours for the same price she is charging for the normal workshop. I want to cry with excitement I just cant handle it!! Nuts! You know Stand in Baby, right? You know they are from Australia right – like they know BIG photographers! I’m in SHOCK! Girl that shit is nuts! ❤Look what you have done for my business – stuff I would have never ever even had the balls to do. I can’t thank you enough!”
What is the biggest lesson you have learned from founding your own company?
The biggest hurdle has just been to block out all the noise of my peers in the industry and focus on what I do best – slay systems and continue to make boring biz sh*t fun.
What does success mean to you?
Success means carving my niche, having found my tribe, and waking up every morning excited to get to work! Success means being able to take a vacation whenever I choose because I truly am the boss of my time. Success means paying my bills, being able to go on family vacations and not stress where the next client is going to come from.
Has a mistake ever led you to success?
Of course! Mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before. I don’t believe in mistakes though, everything is meant to happen.
Which women inspire you?
Any woman not afraid to speak her truth
What one thing do you wish someone had told you when you first started out?
Stay in your lane. You are starting in the industry because you have felt that spark in your belly that lights you up. If you start to play the comparison game, it will slowly diminish that flame and you begin to lose that passion.
What’s the best piece of business advice someone has ever given you?
Success will come when you are truly in alignment in all aspects of your life.
